Tour de Cluck: A Bicycle Chicken Coop Crawl!
On May 22nd, the 16 coops featured on the 2010 Tour de Cluck will be presented as a self-guided tour in neighborhood clusters (coop loops!) throughout Davis, CA. All will have easy access to the Davis Bicycle Loop. In addition to a fine variety of coop styles and chicken breeds, each coop loop will feature backyard poultry expert information for those interested in taking the poultry plunge. The Tour de Cluck will benefit the Davis Farm to School Connection.
Tickets are also available at the Davis Food Co-op, Hibbert Lumber and The Avid Reader, cash and checks only:
General $15, Seniors $10, Students 11/above $10, Children 10/under FREE.
While enjoying the Tour de Cluck by car is an option, we encourage you to dust off that bike and ride! Timed to coincide with May is Bike Month, those who choose to visit the chicken coops on two wheels will have access to bicycle guides and limited emergency repairs provided by Davis Bicycles! with the generous support of Kens Bike & Ski!
As a bonus, beginning at 9 AM prior to the coop crawl, we will present a Community Kick-off celebration at Central Park, the Davis Farmers Market and the U.S. Bicycle Hall of Fame! This fun, pre-event will feature a Welcome Ceremony featuring our esteemed Mayor, a fun Courage to Cluck Exhibition and a Fowl Food Fair featuring some of our vendors from our award-winning Davis Farmers Market. It will also mark the official opening of the Tour de Cluck Art Exhibit & Silent Auction! A parade of bikes will launch to the coops at 10:00 AM.
Bring the whole family, celebrate the humble egg, be completely entertained by the antics of the noble chicken and tour the special places that members of our community's backyard poultry culture have created for their fowl friends. This will be fun!
