This Scary Cow class will include topics concerning the ever-changing landscape of film distribution including, but not limited to: theatrical & hybrid distribution, non-theatrical, ancillary rights management, physical and digital home video sales and the DIY film distribution movement. Special attention will be given to comparing well-worn traditional forms of distribution to new outlets, platforms, and practices of enterprising filmmakers looking to distribute their films outside of traditional means.

Instructor Bio: Danny Costa currently runs DeLarge Films. His services under the DeLarge banner include digital rights management, film distribution consulting, and producing. Danny's background prior to founding DeLarge involved working in independent film distribution in New York City. Past positions in distribution include managing operations at The Cinema Guild, a leading distributor of independent documentary and narrative feature films, where he played an integral part in the acquisition of cult filmmaker Andrew Bujalski's latest feature, Beeswax, as well as contributing to the acquisition of a number of prominent documentaries. Since working in digital rights, Danny has negotiated the acquisitions of a number of feature projects from festivals including Sundance, Toronto, HotDocs, SilverDocs, SXSW and Slamdance. Danny has given lectures on his expertise to thousands around the country.
