Isobel Coleman: Women Changing the Middle East
More than ever, women's rights are crucial for progress and stability in the Middle East, and Isobel Coleman, senior fellow for U.S. foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations, argues that women do not need to break away from Islam to achieve both. Rather, through the stories of women from five Mideast countries, Coleman (Paradise Beneath Her Feet) finds a grassroots movement of quiet revolutionaries fighting for economic and social changeĆ¢all within the strictures of Islam. Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life, with Elliott Bay Book Company. Series media sponsorship provided by Publicola. Series supported by The Boeing Company Charitable Trust, the RealNetworks Foundation and the Otto Haas Charitable Trust.
