Give Your Life Some Effing Stage Time -- Saturday, April 17th 11:30 - 2:30
Writer/Performer Lauren Weedman uses a variety of storytelling techniques, character work, writing and improv exercises to help mine and develop material for your first or your 20th solo show, sketch writing and/or stand-up. You will learn how to avoid cliche's (e.g. "And I finally found me" or "The journey to my vagina"/"My man cave smells bad") and find new ways to ignite your own experiences and turn them into poignant, funny, dark, and/or ridiculous comedy. Lauren's class hands you the tools to create the kind of work that grabs the audience by the gut and leaves them excited about your performance for days. Performance experience is required.**
$50 for this class by itself or $75.00 for both this class and The Process of Finding Your Effing Process. You will pay a $20.00 deposit to reserve your space through brownpaperticket. The rest will be due day of class.
"Like Bob Newhart in his early stand-up routines, she's particularly good at making her points...and making us feel clever. Most important, she's just plain funny, physically and verbally." -The New York Times
** Please email frayn@backfencepdx.com about your interest in the classes and tell her a little bit about your performance/writing background.
