Celebration for Greg Anton's novel "Face the Music" & concert featuring all star jamband "I Know You Writer"
Join in a rollicking celebration of the new novel by influential drummer Greg Anton (Zero, Rock Collection, Ghosts of Electricity, etc.), a leading figure in the San Francisco Rock and Jam Band scenes who has played with everyone from Jerry Garcia to John Lee Hooker. The event includes a reading and concert by the all-star jamband "I Know You Writer" featuring Melvin Seals, Mark Karan, Banana and Robin Sylvester at San Geronimo Valley Community Center on Sunday, December 21st at 7pm.
The book is a must read for anyone interested in the jamband scene and San Francisco Rock movement. Also lots of fun for Marin and SF residents with many recognizable places and situations.
"Greg exposes the insularity of the pop-music business with stunning veracity. . .an insider's look at its highs, lows, and a whiff of the steaming guts, delivered with style and verve. . .not incidentally featuring an unforgettable leading lady. Good shit!" Robert Hunter
"...this book flows like a moody, mystical, musical composition." Barry "The Fish" Melton (of Country Joe and the Fish), musician and defense attorney.
A quote from Greg Anton in Paul Liberatore's article about the book: "I've always loved the music coming from the Bay Area," he says. "It seems more organic and more real, more honest. In a fictional setting, I'm trying in this book to tell a story about how valuable I think music is, what a pure expression of spiritual power it is, how it can express someone's whole world."
