Soundings from Island Press: Darrin Nordahl
The second-season opener of this solutions-oriented environmental lecture and discussion series features Darrin Nordahl, author of Public Produce, who explores "municipal agriculture" city officials turning to the abundance of land under public control to grow food. Profiling urban food-growing efforts, Nordahl finds that adding a bit of agrarianism into our urbanism not only makes fresh produce more available to the public, but also reinforces a sense of place and community-building, nourishes the needy, and promotes food literacy and good health. Presented by Town Hall and Island Press through Town Hall's Center for Civic Life series, in association with Elliott Bay Book Company.
