Ayurvedic Eating with Peter Malakoff of Ancient Organics
*EVENT UPDATED* Tuesday, April 20th, 7-9 pm, Ticketed (we're pouring all our buttery ghee into one night!) Ayurvedic Eating with Peter Malakoff of Ancient Organics $30, 18 Reasons members, $40, general Tickets: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/104322 Ayurveda, known as the sister science to Yoga, is a 5,000 year old system of traditional medicine with its origins in India. All over the world, people use Ayurveda for healing illness and follow Ayurvedic dietary principles to live a balanced, healthy life. In the past 25 years, that wisdom has come to America. A common ingredient in an Ayurvedic Diet is ghee, or clarified butter and Ancient Organics in Marin County makes the top rated ghee in the United States. They use only Straus Family Creamery Organic butter and make their ghee in traditional way - only on full or waxing moons. He'll give every student a foundational understanding of Ayurveda and an understanding of the food that is fitted to their body and health needs. For this ONE-night program, Peter Malakoff, founder of Ancient Organics and certified Ayurvedic practitioner, will give each attendee the equivalent of a one-on-one Ayurvedic consultation. The class will learn about the history of Ayurveda, the core principles, terminology, and of course all about ghee, from how it's made to why it's good for us. The class will learn how to stock a kitchen using the universal principles of Ayurveda and how to plan a week's worth of Ayurvedic meals. Students will also learn what their individual dosha (dosha = Ayuvedic body type) is and how to best eat for their unique needs. Attendees will chow down on fresh organic Rancho Gordo popcorn (popped in ghee!) and warm bowls of homemade kichari, a lentil dish considered to be the "bread and butter" of India. Come curious and come hungry!
