Gabriel/Joy - Staged Reading (RUSH SEATING ONLY)
Gabriel/Joy follows six days in the lives of Gabriel Hessman, his 8-year-old daughter Joy, his father Richard, and his brothers as they struggle to deal with love, abandonment, and a gutted bathroom. The play is told from both the vantage points of Gabriel in the present and that of Joy when she's 22.
Featuring the talents of Christopher Marshall, Jill Snyder, Anil Vora, Tim Barr, and Roger Curtis. Dramaturged by Sherry Narens, stage managed by Lara Immerman, and narrated by John Farrage.
Gabriel/Joy is one of four plays in The Dave Chronicles, a chronicle in which each play details a small portion of the life of a former member of the exceptionally-short-lived college band, "Dave". The plays all deal with, and expose, relationship issues that are unique to Generation X - the first generation of a true divorce culture - requiring new definitions of family and love, and a new understanding of the happy ending.
Approximate running time for Gabriel/Joy is 120 minutes. Contains mature language and themes.
