Sara Felder's "A Queer Divine" April 22 at I House
A Queer Divine by Sara Felder directed by David O'Connor
"There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us more alive..." Martha Graham
Performing artist and queer juggler, Sara Felder, enters a new stage with the world premiere of "A Queer Divine" -- a theatrical reflection on art, grief and revelation.
In her new solo comedy, Sara ponders, juggles and finally embodies the facts of her existence: She can't dance, she likes art and people she loves are going to die.
A Queer Divine explores transitions between birth and death, between Brooklyn and Manhattan, between ballet and modern. It exists in the space where life happens when were waiting, on the subway platform, on the sidewalk, in the theater lobby. Integrating juggling moves, circus shtik and object-play with an original sound score, Sara learns about love, creativity, commerce, class, race, growing old and dying. She is also considering a trip to the ballet.
"A Queer Divine" will be performed in neighborhood houses, places of worship and theaters all over Philadelphia, over the course of one week.
