Comedy Returns to El Rio! (a Kung Pao Kosher Comedy production)
Comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig, (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy) began her stand up comedy career 20 years ago last July at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District. In celebration of that anniversary, she brought comedy back to El Rio, the club that first put her onstage.
Geduldig strives to produce multicultural, multi-everything comedy shows with the variety of shows she produces each year (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz, The Color of Funny). The shows are out of the norm, the line-ups are always a diverse cultural, gender, and sexual orientation mix, and her comedy productions showcase some of the funniest and smartest stand up comics from San Francisco and beyond.
Comedy Returns to El Rio takes place every 2nd Monday of the month @ 8pm at El Rio.
The Monday, April 12th show features: Maureen Langan, Bob McIntyre, Erin Souza, Tessie Chua, & Lisa Geduldig.
MAUREEN LANGAN performs all over the US and in Canada and Ireland. She performs regularly at Caroline's on Broadway in New York City, where she lives. She's been on The Joy Behar Show, Comics Unleashed, and HBO. Maureen was a finalist in the 2009 San Francisco Comedy Competition. She's the first woman since Ellen DeGeneres to finish in the top three. She's the 2000 MAC Winner for Best Female Comic (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs). www.MaureenLangan.com
BOB MCINTYRE was born a coal miner's daughter in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Hollow. At the age of 13, he got his first job as a waiter at the local BINGO hall where he learned the skills that would carry him through an additional 25 years of various restaurant jobs in a variety of establishments that would never be referred to as "fine dining." Along the way he performed some comedy here and there but not in a lot of other places. Bob's appearance at El Rio is his first time back on stage in 5 years. His cat weighs 19 pounds, approximately 1/5 of Bob's own weight.
ERIN SOUZA is a transgendered comic who began performing when she was still a he, at junior college speech competitions. The former Miss Transgender San Francisco has also performed improv with the Next Stage and with Pan Theater. Erin does administrative work for a health maintenance organization whose name rhymes with miser.
TESSIE CHUA dispels stereotypical myths concerning Asian Pacific women. Short, angry and clever, she is a self-appointed spokesperson. Chua has performed from NY to California and has shared the stage with Robin Williams, Robert Schimmel, and others. She delivers the comedy goods while she faces the audience, head on, with a take-no-prisoners stance.
LISA GEDULDIG is the creator, producer, & MC of a variety of annual comedy shows: Kung Pao Kosher Comedy; The George Bush Going Away Party; Funny Girlz; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar; The Color of Funny; Comedy Returns to El; Rio, Cafe con Comedy; Charo.
