2010 Richmond Festival of Music: Master Pieces
The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's flagship event returns to Richmond in April, this year featuring the music of two favorite classical composers - Johannes Brahms and Antonin Dvorak. The "2010 Richmond Festival of Music: The Musical Worlds of Dvorak and Brahms," is a week-long event featuring three concerts plus free events and a masterclass, all performed by a cast of eight internationally acclaimed musicians from Europe and the United States.
The first concert of the 2010 Richmond Festival of Music, "Masterpieces" is a program of piano trios and quartets by Antonin Dvorak and Johannes Brahms plus two of their students, Heinrich von Herzogenberg and pioneering African-American composer H. T. Burleigh. The concert features violist Diane Pascal and Erin Keefe and duo-pianists Gabriel Dobner and Carsten Schmidt, as well as cellist James Wilson.
