Spring Concert: "From Europe to America: A Journey in Song"
Charleston Men's Chorus ushers in Spring with our March concert, From Europe to America: A Journey in Song! Enjoy traditional tunes from continental Europe such as "Plaisir d'Amour," a classical French love song; "A Vucchella," a Neapolitan song by Tosti; and "The Blue Danube," the famous waltz by Johann Strauss II. The CMC Chamber Choir will perform 'Ständchen,' a wonderful serenade by German composer Franz Schubert. The serenade will feature mezzo-soprano Jennifer Luiken, who will sing also a selection of Hungarian pieces by Ernő Dohnányi. The second half of the concert will offer folk songs, traditional hymns and popular tunes from the United States and Canada. CMC will bring a richness of voice and clever arrangement to favorites like "Skip to My Lou" and "Watching the Apples Grow," as well as a choir arrangement of the hymn, "How Can I Keep From Singing."
