Sunflower Power
Peter Warner, botanical consultant to the Pepperwood Preserve, will introduce participants to the amazing species diversity within the sunflower, daisy or composite flowering plant family (Asteraceae). Using diagrams and authentic organic material, learn to identify the characteristic structures of the composites, distinguish among the many sunflower tribes and Jepson Manual groups and recognize some of the more common local species. Meet at the Dwight Center.
