Event
From Cancer to Broadway
First created by Cleveland native and award-winning playwright Bridgette E. Wimberly in New York, 11 local African American breast cancer survivors put their stories on paper during a workshop designed to teach the fundamentals of playwriting. Sponsored by The Gathering Place and The Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure North East Ohio Affiliate and facilitated by Ms Wimberly, these workshops have empowered women to share their poignant experiences, which are now being brought to the stage. Karamu Performing Arts Theatre is pleased to present a theatrical platform for these important voices that will increase awareness about African American women and breast cancer. Also, look out for an upcoming featured story on this important project in the April 2010 issue of Cleveland Magazine.
