SFWFF - Grant Guidelines, FAQs and best practices before applying to Chicken & Egg Pictures led by Judith Helfand
An intimate, friendly and personal introduction to CHICKEN & EGG PICTURES. This interactive workshop is geared to emergent women filmmakers and first-timers interested in applying to Chicken & Egg for support. It is also a chance for those bold, optimistic and highly creative makers who applied and were rejected to get clarity on process and feedback on their next very evolved iteration. (Veterans welcome!!)

Indeed, this workshop will answer many questions critical to the application process - from deciding that YOU SHOULD APPLY to producing an effective application that best represents your project.

What does C&E look for in a voice? What can emergent filmmakers and first-timers bring to a film that no one else can? And how do you show/offer that in an LOI and a WIP? What kind of proposal language best conveys STORY, passion, unique and authentic access? Why is C&E so interested in AUDIENCE and COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT even at the very beginning of a project? What does C&E look for in a work-in-progress, a visual sketch or an excerpt? Why is it critical to submit something  even if its a digital SKETCH with a flip camera! How can an emergent filmmaker best show C&E what she knows and how she has contributed to the field EVEN IF she hasnt FINISHED her own piece yet?

The underlying take-home and goal is: strive to make the whole C&E application PROCESS useful (whether you get a grant or not).

Time will be set aside for participating filmmakers to pitch their project in WORDS.

If interested send a 150 word synopsis, title, logline and a very brief description of your engagement goals. to sfwomensfilmfestival@gmail.com
