February 2015 Vancouver Program: Creating a Safety Culture
"Safety Culture" is a common phrase and buzzword in organizational environments these days. Unfortunately, "Safety Culture" is often used as an adjective looking back on the success, or failure, of the organizations safety record. "Safety Culture" needs to be a term used to describe the experiences that drive organizational beliefs, resulting in observable actions that result in a dynamic "Safety Culture". Successful safety programs need to be proactive, forward thinking entities that strategically address the safety needs of their organization, while positively impacting employee's beliefs about safety to create a "Safety Culture" that is aligned with the desired organizational results.
