Jazz In The Kitchen
Please join us for the 19th Jazz In The Kitchen!
We are featuring the Mark Eisenman Trio. The members of the trio - Mark Eisenman (p) Steve Wallace (b) and John Sumner (d) - have been together since 1987 and the musical communication among them is like telepathy. In addition to making great music, throughout the evening they also share with our JITK guests a wealth of knowledge and experience in stories and jokes.
Our guest for this evening is Shawn Nyquist, one of Toronto's best tenor sax players. The Toronto Jazz Festival says "You can expect some beautiful ballads and hard swing from this seasoned veteran tenor man." Shawn has recorded here many times.
The music is presented here in the kitchen acoustically - no microphones - so what you hear is a "pure" and intimate sound.
When it's not in use as a place for concerts or cooking, the kitchen doubles as a recording studio and it houses one of the best pianos in the city. Mark knows this particular Steinway Grand well and he really makes it sing. Here's the room: The Kitchen.
Guests are invited to bring along something to drink. We will provide glasses. All proceeds from the door go to the musicians. Admission is limited to thirty people, and tickets must be purchased in advance.
We're in the beaches area of Toronto. Ample free street parking. A short walk up from the Queen East #501 Maclean Ave stop, or a quick #64 bus south from Main Stn to Williamson Road.
The door opens at 7:00 pm, and the music starts at 7:30. Please be on time. We are sure you will enjoy the 19th Jazz In The Kitchen event!
