Seven Drummers and a Flutist!
Seven Drummers and a Flutist! The JuBo Duo in conjunction with Women Who Groove of The Women's Drum Center.
The JuBo Duo (pronounced Joo Bo) is comprised of Twin Cities performers Julie Johnson (Flute) and Bonnie Hering (percussion) of the JuBoJa Trio. The JuBo Duo utilizes a variety of traditional flutes and percussion instruments in traditional and non-traditional ways. With an emphasis on improvisation and a rich repertoire of "folk" melodies from around the globe - as well as original compositions - this eclectic duo produces a unique and exciting musical experience for every audience.
Women Who Groove (WWG) is a women's drumming group based at the Women's Drum Center in Saint Paul, with a focus on African and Brazilian rhythms, as well as various other world-percussion arrangements by female artists such as Ubaka Hill. WWG got it's start nearly six years ago as a weekly class under the instruction of percussionist Kari Kjome. Current members range from 1-4 years of commitment to the ensemble.
Dreamland Arts is a privately owned performing arts studio where we offer classes, workshops and performances in theater, music, puppetry, dance and more. We have an intimate 40-seat theater at street level, as well as a spacious basement studio for classes and meetings.
