Richard Kaplan - Jewish and Global Soul Music - Program of the 30th Jewish Music Festival
The 30th Jewish Music Festival presents concert and recording artist, singer-songwriter, pianist and hazzan (cantor) Richard Kaplan in an intimate evening of exquisite roots music and inspiring new compositions.
Complementary light refreshments will be served.
In this rare and intimate house concert, Richard Kaplan sings songs of exultation, radical immanence, lament and deep ecumenism, music both tribally-rooted and world-centric, sung in Hebrew, Yiddish, Aramaic, English, Hindi, a bisl Latin and miraculously, with no words at all! Vocalist, concert performer, recording artist, composer, educator, ethno-musicologist, hazzan and pianist Richard Kaplan has been the cantor of Temple Beth Abraham, Oakland and co-leader of the Shir Hashirim Minyan, Berkeley for the past seventeen years. www.kaplanmusic.com
