Peggy Seeger with guests Rosy's Bar & Grill
Peggy Seeger is a superb songmaker and singer of traditional song, outstanding multi-instrumentalist and feminist speaker of wit and insight, Peggy Seeger celebrates Women's History Month and also the release of her 70th birthday CD, "Three Score & Ten" featuring her brothers Pete & Mike, Billy Bragg and others, in this special CrossCurrents concert.
"For decades, Seeger has been one of the most authoritative voices in American and English folk." While she is acknowledged as an esteemed interpreter of traditional material and a gifted instrumentalist, she is perhaps best known for her observant and caustic original songs about women." Chris Morris, Billboard.
Peggy's concerts unfold an impressive cross-section of traditional Anglo-American songs and finely crafted contemporary pieces: songs about animals, smoking, murder, politics, hormones, jobs, peacemongering, children and other people, love and lovers, the earth and ecology.
There will be a short opening set by Rosy's, Kansas City's premier women's band, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2007.
