Dvorak's Mass in D Major and other inspirational works
The Masterwork Chorus invites you to refresh your spirit and renew your soul as we perform Dvorak's Mass in D, and selected other inspirational works for choir and organ. While Dvorak is best known for The New World Symphony,his Mass in D, was widely performed in its day, and is recognized as an uplifting masterwork for choir and organ. The program will also include choral and organ works of Brahms, Mendelssohn and Grieg, all known for their passionate and expressive nature. Best known for their annual performances of Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall the 90-voice choir is under the direction of Andrew Megill, Associate Professor of Music at Westminster Choir College. The choir will be accompanied by Jim Little, the noted organist, and will include soloists Cassandra LaMotte, Mary Pat Finucane and J.D. Burnett. The concert will be preceded by a mini-lecture by Jim Little about the historic 47 rank pipe organ.
