Culture at the Crossroads: Jazz-Balkan Fusion
Milla Milojkovic is a well-known jazz singer, and currently resides in San Francisco.  Born to a Croatian mother who grew up in Bosnia, and a Serbian father, folk music and culture was a prominent feature of her youth.  Milla was an inspired musician and vocalist from an early age; she began playing tamburitza and piano at the age of 5, and eventually went on to study opera at Manhattan School of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  Milla has worked and recorded with artists such as Larry Vuckovich, Adam Shulman, Noel Jewkes, John Wiitala, and Dayna Stephens.  Milla enjoys the creative freedoms of jazz, and believes that there is a true synthesis between jazz and Balkan music, for both genres welcome improvisation and require chops.

Danny Ovanin is a well known and highly accomplished Tamburas.  Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Danny has been playing tambura since the young age of 6.  Danny is the son of Croatian parents who instilled in their children a love for Croatian culture, language, and most notably, music.  He was very active with the Yeseta Brothers in Los Angeles, and following a move to Chicago, Danny began to play with prestigious musicians such as Joe Kirin, Joe Grlica, and Robi Sestili.  He has produced recordings with Boduli, Slanina, 8601, Sonya Kosovec, Momcilo Nikolic and TRroma.  His ‚‚home‚‚ band is TRroma of Chicago, and Danny was recently awarded a 2009 Founder‚‚s Award from the Tamburitza Association of America.

Ryan Werner, Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Ryan was an active and young member of the Milwaukee CFU Tamburitzans, and excelled especially as a basprim and prim player in his youth.  After playing and touring with Vatra, Ryan made his move to Chicago, where he was quickly recognized for his talent, and began playing with Boduli and 8601.  His musical prowess and curiosity led him to study acoustic and electric guitar.  Ryan has played with Ludi Ritam, KontraBand Tamburica Orchestra of Chicago, and currently TRroma.  Ryan‚‚s primary instruments are Basprim and Celo, and further to his instrumental chops, he is a natural and sublime singer.  Ryan was recently awarded a 2009 Founder‚‚s Award from the Tamburitza Association of America.

Adis Sirbubalo started playing accordion at the age of 9. He attended Music High School in Sarajevo and got a degree in Classical Performance.
