Words and Wine with Michael Lewis
Michael Lewis is the most entertaining chronicler of our modern times. He was a top bond trader at Salomon Bros before he left to become a writer. Liar's Poker, his account of life on Wall Street,is one of the defining books of the 80's. Lewis has gone on to tackle topics from Silicon Valley (The New, New Thing and Next) to baseball (Moneyball), to fatherhood(Home Game). His book about football, The Blind Side, was recently adapted into an academy award nominated film. His new book, The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, is a character-rich and humorous study of how the U.S. economy was driven over the cliff, with a cast of real-life characters that includes villains, a few heroes and a lot of people who look very, very foolish. The historic Sorrento Hotel will host our event, and the evening begins with appetizers and wine at 6 PM. The Chateau St. Michelle will be providing our featured wines for the evening, and all wines, appetizers and a copy of The Big Short are included in the $50 per/person ticket price.
