Tophat Toy Theater Presents: Jesus Christ Superstar
David Worobec, tenor, graduated from the Boston Conservatory in 2011 with a degree in vocal performance with opera emphasis in the studio of Victor Jannett. He has always sung and, beginning with Peter and the Wolf at age 4, has performed musical skits with miniature "actors." At the age of seven, when he was delighted to note that in opera and musical theater, "you can have a conversation without talking," he decided to pursue a career in music. Before he discovered the Victorian toy theaters, his characters acted on improvised miniature theaters built by his mother. His musical debut took place three years later when he was featured in the title role of Boston Bel Canto Opera's production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Many productions with companies such as Boston Bel Canto Opera and at the Boston Conservatory followed. David loves to entertain family and friends with one-man toy theater productions of his favorite musicals, whether in a theater or as a dinner salon at his house or elsewhere. Productions include South Pacific, Oklahoma!, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll & Hyde, and Les Misérables, among others. He also performs a broad range of songs at weddings and other special events and, in addition, is available to play the piano and/or sing for cocktail parties.
