Robin R. Meyers Lecture
Dr. Robin R. Meyers is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, a tenured professor in the philosophy department at Oklahoma City University, an author, a syndicated columnist, and an award-winning commentator for National Public Radio. In 2013 he was invited by Yale University to present the prestigious Lyman Beecher Lecture, speaking on 'Faith as Resistance: to Ego, to Orthodoxy, and to Empire.' Meyers joins us in Seattle Feb 6 and 7 to speak on faith as resistance, along with presentations on 'Quantum Physics and the Future of God,' and 'The Underground Church: Reclaiming the Subversive Way of Jesus.'
Dr. Meyers has been the Senior Minister of Mayflower Congregational UCC church of Oklahoma City since 1985, the fastest growing UCC church in the Kansas Oklahoma conference. He speaks nationally on a variety of topics from the perspective of a progressive Christian, author, professor, and preacher. He is also a fellow of the Jesus Seminar. Robin Meyers is the author of several books, including Saving Jesus from the Church: How to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus (Harper One, 2010), and The Underground Church: Reclaiming the Subversive Way of Jesus (Jossey Bass, 2012).
