The whole relationship, which is initially based on deceit slowly, gives birth to a true friendship between these two people who, in spite of their lies, share one common truth-their quest for happiness. Still the question remains - What form should happiness take? The Broken Heart of Gnocchi Bolognese directed by Katherine Vondy (USA, 2009, 18 min, Narrative Fiction) On the eve of her 25th birthday, Gnocchi Bolognese decides to infuse some romance into her life. Instead, she finds the relationship she is truly missing is that with her father, the chef whose signature dish she was named for. The Last Cigarette directed by Brooke Sebold (USA, 2009, 8 min, Narrative Fiction) Jenny, a runaway teen, has just found out that she is pregnant. When her father confronts her on her cigarette break, she gives him the length of a cigarette to convince her to come home. Delilah, Before directed by Melanie Schiele (Singapore, 2009, 9 min, Narrative Fiction) A young Singaporean woman, haunted by a dark past and teenage pregnancy, has to regain her mother's trust in her rehabilitation as she reassumes custody of her young child. Midas' Son directed by Annetta Marion (USA, 2009, 16 min, Narrative Fiction) MIDAS' SON tells the story of Billy, a young man adrift in his life. As he prepares for his wedding, Billy returns to his childhood home to find out why his parents have not yet responded to his wedding invitation. The homecoming brings up old and unhealed resentments; however,Billy takes baby steps towards repairing broken relationships and, eventually, redemption. The Swim Team directed by Amber Crosby (USA, 2009, 17 min, Narrative Fiction) When aimless Mona winds up in the tiny town of Belvedere she finds herself teaching three elderly locals how to swim - even though there are no bodies of water to be found. Based on the short story by Miranda July, the film reminds us that sometimes it's the things we've forgotten that haven't forgotten us.
