The Story of Anna's Mermaids directed Francesca Fataar (USA, 2009, 4 min, Narrative Fiction) Inspired by T.S. Eliots The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, The Story of Annas Mermaids examines one young womans struggle with anorexia and the inner conflict she faces while trying to attain her ideal body image. Evening Music directed by Elle Gold (USA, 4 min, 2009, Narrative Fiction) A piano plays in the distance, and a young girl is drawn toward it to discover some painful truth about loss. Judge Not directed by Janelle McLaurin (USA, 3 min, 2008, Documentary) A young woman shares how she doesn't like to be put in a category. Commencement directed by America Velasquez (USA, 9 min, 2007, Documentary) Commencement is a first person documentary sharing a teen girl's struggle with depression. Why Not directed by Naomi Nelson (USA, 9 min, 2009, Documentary) A personal story about one young woman's experience in foster care and how she beat the odds to end up at a four-year university. Her story includes informative statistics about the number of foster kids graduating and going to college, and intimate conversations with the foster parent who believed in her. Dear Jody directed by Sasha Charles (USA, 3 min, 2007, Documentary) The filmmaker reads a letter to her brother Jody about the pain she experienced when they were separated by the foster care system, and emphasizes the importance of role models for young people. Story of Survival directed by Taylor White (USA, 4 min, 2009, Documentary) A plea for peace in Oakland with confessions and memories from those who have lost loved ones to violence. Alessia directed by Cynthia Leung, Renee Perry & Judith Keena (USA, 6 min, 2009, Drama) Inspired by personal stories shared during the workshop, Alessia captures a warm respite from a family gathering, shared between a young woman who is questioning her identity, and her uncle's partner. Technicolor Kiss directed by Alexandra Adams (USA, 3 min, 2006) A chance meeting causes a frumpy girl to fantasize about a beautiful young woman.
