TE AMO JAZZ
The new Te Amo Jazz music concert series with TEATRO Si celebrates the best of Jazz fusion performance that comes to us from various regions of Latin America. Outstanding professional artists present their talents to audiences at New Jersey venues demonstrating the spirit of the upcoming young and established Hispanic musician. This evening at the elegant Leir Hall brings two dynamic talents and their music ensembles to one stage. As an outstanding Venezuelan musician and master guitarist, Aquiles Baez is a true Latin-American multi-chord instrumentalist, arranger, and composer. His instrumental execution delivers an innovative and personal style, incorporating sophisticated harmonies, within Latin Americans newborn rhythmic elements. Aquiles has recorded eleven albums, along with numerous collaborations in the company of well-renowned artists such as Paquito D Rivera, Farred Haque, John Patitucci, Ilan Chester, Mike Marshall, Aquiles Machado, Ed Simon, Richard Bona, Giora Feidman, Raul Jaurena, Ensamble Gurrufio, Simon Diaz, Nana Vasconcelos, Luciana Souza, Lucia Pulido, Cecilia Todd, Worlds of Guitars, and others. He has also participated with major world orchestras such as the Brooklyn Symphony , Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Boston Symphony", Atlanta Symphony and others. He has appeared in numerous documentaries such as Fernando Trueba‚s 54 Street and Grammy nominated albums Motherland and Central Avenue featuring legendary pianist Danilo Perez. Tonight as the Aquiles Baez Trio he shares the stage with Pedro Giraudo on bass and percussionist Roberto Quintero. The quote "The next wave in Latin American jazz may well begin with Tosello" from Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times best describes Sofia Tosello, a remarkable young vocalist, originally from Cordoba, Argentina. She belongs to an exciting new group of artists who are changing the Latin American song. Rooted in the variety of Latin American cancin traditions, including tango, chacarera, bolero filin, son and zamba, one also hears shades of the downtown world jazz scene, bossa nova, and a bit of funk in Tosellos performances. Christopher Loundon also writes in Jazz Times that, "the purity of Tosello's voice is matched by the vibrancy of her emotional palette and inventiveness of her cross-cultural technique. Ms. Tosello has performed, recorded and collaborated with a wide variety of talented artists and she has appeared at many noted venues including Summer Stage Central Park (NYC), Blue Note (NYC), Joes Pub (NYC), The Hecksher Theatre at EL Museo del Barrio (NYC), Jazz Standard (NYC), Jazz Gallery (NYC), Smoke (NYC), Drom (NYC), 55 Bar (NYC), Zinc Bar (NYC), Sweet Rhythm (NYC), The Knitting Factory (NYC), The Bitter End (NYC), SOBs (NYC) and others. She is accompanied for this evenings performance by the acclaimed Octavio Brunetti on piano, Pedro Giraudo on bass, drummer Franco Pinna and special guest Aquiles Baez on guitar. Come to enjoy a special music treat!
