Join Fruit Tree Guru Steve Hofvendahl and Master Gardener and Fruit Kahuna Herb Machleder for a comprehensive, two-part Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop.
Part One in the morning will introduce participants to this fascinating subject with an in-depth discussion of the wisdom and science of grafting presented through demonstration. During Part Two in the afternoon, participants will gain hands-on experience grafting apples and may take their grafted fruit tree home to plant. Tools, materials, rootstock, and scion wood will be provided.
This class is hands-on and participants will be working with pruning shears and grafting knives. This class will be held at the Botanical Head House attached to the Conservatory.
This workshop is only open to present and past participants of The Huntington Botanical Gardens "Train - the - Trainer" Program. Train-the-Trainer is a grant sponsored course intended as professional development for people actively involved in teaching gardening on a community, education, or professional level.
