In this workshop, we will identify and study the spontaneous vegetation at The Huntington Ranch as indicators of soil health and composition as well as their potential use for food and fodder for animals. We will also look at the selection of cultivated food and native plants and some of their multiple functions in the landscape. This workshop will discuss weeds and volunteer plants as valuable contributors in learning to read your garden's ecosystem.
This class will be held outdoors.
This workshop is only open to present and past participants of The Huntington Botanical Gardens "Train - the - Trainer" Program. Train-the-Trainer is a grant sponsored course intended as professional development for people actively involved in teaching gardening on a community, education, or professional level.
