...the itsy bitsy spider...
Created specifically for Studio Six, ...the itsy bitsy spider... revolves around a controversial chapter of Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel, "The Possessed" or "Demons", which was censored for decades in Russia. What the main character reveals in the censored chapter serves as the catalyst of the plot, and is the springboard for this imaginative adaptation. With original choreography and music, ...the itsy bitsy spider...  explores the story of a man torn apart by his mysterious past, and his desperate attempt at redemption.

Director Alexandre Marine brings a new perspective to Dostoevsky's novel and sheds light on an often untold and unexamined side to the story.

Alexandre Marine is a recipient of the Distinguished Artist of Russia award, and he has been one of the principal directors of The Moscow Art Theater. Marine is a founding member of the Tabakerka Theater in Moscow, and is also founding artistic director of his Montreal theater company, Theatre Deuxieme Realite.  As a theater director he has staged over 50 shows in Moscow, Montreal, Boston, New York and Tokyo, and his shows at the Moscow Art and Tabakerka have toured extensively through Europe and the United States.

Studio Six Theater Company is the sixth and sole American studio to be born of the renowned Moscow Art Theater.  It is comprised of the only class of American actors to complete the full conservatory training program of Russiaâs Moscow Art Theater School.  Studio Six is dedicated to bringing Russian theater culture and values to American audiences through their enlivened and innovative productions.  It is their mission is to be a cultural bridge between the Russian and American theater communities and this project is a prime example of this exchange at work. This collaboration brings the pointed perspective of Russian director with the crafted talent of these American, Russian trained actors to one of Dostoevskyâs most arresting tales.
