"Brooklyn Boy" is a comedy that deals with some serious subjects. You don't need to know anything about Brooklyn to understand the journey of Eric Weiss, who following some life changing events, struggles to finds out where home really is.
Eric is a critically acclaimed author who doesn't sell many books and who is catapulted to fame with a semi autobiographical novel about growing up in Brooklyn. Not only does he deal with celebrity and fortune but also a sarcastic father in his hospital bed, a zany friend from school days who proves everyone is a critic, a soon to be ex wife who is waiting for a date to arrive, a young woman who he winds up with in a hotel room, a neurotic movie producer and a seemingly marginal actor set to play him in a movie.
Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright Donald Margulies has crafted a Broadway success that is funny and very real, with crisp dialogue and wonderfully crafted characters.
