Winged
The world premiere of a radical, fearless interpretation of three mythical beings: Icarus, Lucifer and Phoenix.
Poetic, surprising and irreverent, Winged inspects and dissects relationships between fathers and sons, friends and lovers, predator and prey...and serves up a clarion call for the transformation of humankind.
As each character takes the stage, layers of familiarity and assumption about the men are peeled away. Icarus ruminates on sons who dare fly past their fathers. Lucifer works through the unexpected transition from favorite to feared Phoenix answers an astonishing call in his right hip, and discovers the burning, yearning God within.
Balanced on a foundation of powerful poetic writing, Winged utilizes a highly physical performance style blended with original artwork and live projection to create an emotionally bold multi-media experience.
The production takes place at The DeLeon White Gallery. Amid a special curated exhibit of paintings, photographs and sculpture, audiences will encounter a dynamic juxtaposition of live performance and visual art that resonates with the play's themes.
