Kenneth Be
Join us for a special concert: 1500-1550 - Lute Music of the Renaissance, performed by lutenist, Kenneth Be. For those of you who haven't experienced lute music up close let me say that it can only be described as magical. Lute music from the period 1500-1550 is some of the most beautiful and engaging music of all time. And it is timeless. Kenneth Be will draw on his 30+ years of experience with Lute and art history for an unforgettable concert. Kenneth Be has been performing lute music since 1974. He has studied under notable lute players including Paul O'Dette and Nigel North. He has participated as a musician in the Boston Early Music Festival and frequently performs duet concerts with acclaimed lutenist Ronn McFarlane. In addition to lute performance, Be has a deep interest in the role of music and the visual arts in past culture. He studied both history and geology at Yale as an undergraduate, geology in graduate studies at the State University of New York at Albany and then art conservation and art history at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. Originally from the Hudson River valley region just north of New York City, he was a conservator for the Cleveland Museum of Arts painting collection for eighteen years before moving to Omaha. In Omaha Mr. Be works as a paintings conservator at the Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center.
