LIVE! FROM THE LAST NIGHT OF MY LIFE
Written and Directed Wayne Rawley March March 27th April 18th @12th Ave Arts
Doug Sample is a man who has decided his experiment with life has, for all intents and purposes, failed. He has achieved nothing, accomplished nothing, and has nothing except his graveyard shift at a local gas station and Mini-Mart. He has decided that the best thing for everyone would be if he shot himself in the head, and he is planning to do it right in front of the Mini-Mart's security cameras at the end of this, his last shift. But before the night is over, Doug will be visited by his past, his present, his possible futures and some particularly annoying customers as he struggles with some of life's most challenging questions like, "Why should I go on?", "What does it all mean?", and perhaps most importantly, "Did I remember to change the cherry syrup in the Slushie Machine?" Originally staged by Theater Schmeater as the West Coast premiere in 2011, the original cast and crew come together again to bring this Award Winning production back to the Seattle stage.
WIZZER PIZZER: Getting Over the Rainbow
2nd Annual Summer Pride Series Production WEST COAST PREMIERE
Written by Amy Wheeler Directed By Corey D. McDaniel July 10th August 1st 2015 @12th Ave Arts
Somewhere over the rainbow, gays are checking themselves into Dr. Nora's Reparative Therapy Clinic, where an ex-gay, ex-lesbian couple teach them to be born again straight. Adrian, a drag queen (best known for his Judy Garland impersonation), checks himself in after losing the amateur drag contest. So does Jack (a rugged straight guy who bears a striking resemblance to Adrian's best girlfriend Kandi). When Jack finds love at the clinic with the poster girl for cured lesbians, all Oz breaks loose. Wizzer Pizzer is a wild, outrageous, modern ride back out the Yellow Brick Road.
"In its world-premiere production at 7 Stages, Wizzer Pizzer revels in the comic possibilities of its timely subject, turns gender politics topsy-turvy and offers something sexy for every orientation." ~ Atlanta's Creative Loafing
WATER BY THE SPOONFUL
Pulitzer Prize Winner Seattle Premiere
Written by Quiara Alegría Hudes Directed Julie Beckman October 23rd November 14th 2015 @West of Lenin
In the Seattle premiere of this 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Elliot has returned home from Iraq and is struggling to find his place in the world. Somewhere in a chat room, with liberal doses of humor and confrontation, recovering addicts help each other navigate the broken terrain of their lives. The boundaries of family and community are stretched across continents and cyberspace as birth families splinter and online families collide. Written by Tony nominee Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights) and receiving its much-anticipated Seattle debut, WATER BY THE SPOONFUL is a heartfelt meditation on lives on the brink of redemption.
"Ms. Hudes writes with such empathy and vibrant humor about people helping one another to face down their demons that regeneration and renewal always seem to be just around the corner." --Charles Isherwood, NY Times
