Seth Augustus national album release of "To the Pouring Rain"
We are celebrating the national release of Seth Augustus' "To the Pouring Rain" with a two-show weekend at Porto Franco Art. The album first came out two years ago to be distributed on Augustus' first European tour. Shortly after his return I got a chance to meet Seth for the first time at one of his regular Revolution Cafe shows. I loved his music, and we became good friends. When a year ago my father Sergei and I started Porto Franco, we asked Seth to worked with us, and he agreed. To the Pouring Rain is a great record, and we are very excited to give it the attention it deserves. Among its recent successes is charting on national college radio, and some great song reviews.
The show will feature songs from "To the Pouring Rain", new songs from Seth's upcoming recordings, Tuvan and Appalachian folk songs for Igil (Tuvan fiddle) and voice. Seth will tell stories and show musical examples from his travels to Tuva, Mali, and his work with the legendary blues throat singer Paul Pena.
The gallery will show drawings, collage work and posters by Seth Augustus, monotypes by Heather Horter ( 'To The Pouring Rain' cover art) and posters by Naxoprod - a group of his friends and collaborators in Rennes, France. And if all that weren't enough, we will screen a premiere of the music video for "Trickeries of the Great Emptiness" made by Seth from found footage. Patrick Cress will join Seth on Baritone Saxophone and Bass Clarinet, and Aaron Kierbel will provide the percussion.
$10 ($8+1.99 surcharge) for regular admission, $13 at the door $50 if you'd like to show additional support for Seth Augustus. A copy of To the Pouring Rain is included in $50 admission.
