This exciting young quartet weaves the expressive melodies of Scottish fiddle with jazz improvisation, funk bass lines, and the rhythms of Latin America to create a new sound that BBC Radio Scotland has called "a wonderful concoction". Fresh off a US State Department funded tour of Mexico, Alba's Edge performs and leads clinics across the US and internationally at venues ranging from house concerts to festival stages. Pianist and bandleader Neil Pearlman was raised on Scottish music and dance, studied jazz piano extensively, and went on to explore Brazilian, Afro-Colombian and Cuban music. He formed the band with his sister, fiddler Lilly Pearlman. They're joined by percussionist Jacob Cole, a recent graduate of New England Conservatory, and bassist Doug Berns, whose groove was honed in the funk, afro-beat and jazz communities of New York City.
