IMPROVISE (in bold characters)! - Órla Mc Govern
As part of Improv Fest Ireland 2014 www.improvfestireland.com
This workshop will help you create instant and believable characters of all shapes and sizes. We'll explore space and the limitless amount of 'stuff' there is to use onstage, and bring truth to our physicality. True characters always know what to say even if you don't!
Órla Mc Govern is an improviser, actor and writer based in the West of Ireland. She has performed and taught improv all over the world. In the US she was an ensemble member of Seattle goga, Spolin Players, The Edge and The Seattle Neutrino Project. She has been a guest improviser at many theatres across the US, and has performed several times at Ryan Styles' 'Upfront Theatre' in Washington. Here in Ireland, she improvises regularly with her troupe 'The Sky Babies' and is the founder of 'Moth and Butterfly' an innovative night that combines Storytelling and Improvisation. Órla is the 'helping hand' behind the infamous Elderly Erotic Poetess 'Mrs. Nellie Murphy', and acts regularly for stage/TV & film. She was most recently seen as Mary Quigley, Dublin 3's favourite Psychic in the feature film 'North Circular Road'. Órla is delighted to be teaching on home ground and is thrilled that improv is thriving in Ireland.
