DJ KIM, the taste-maker behind WEQX 102.7 FM's popular Sunday evening show EQXposure, hosts our 4th DJ Showcase. She's presenting three regional musicians who deserve your attention. A brief Q & A will lead each set so you can get to know the artist behind the songs. Kim has selected for us:
MATT DURFEE - a familiar presence in the Capital Region's roots music scene, Durfee performs with aching honesty. Ballads and breath-taking instrumentals alternate with suprising covers and moments of lightness and laughter. CARL DANIELS - He's been called "a folk rock ray of sunshine on a bitter, gloomy winter day." (SwordPaw Music) With a weathered voice reminiscent of Elliott Smith and a torrent of lyrics a la Neutral Milk Hotel, Daniels blends indie folk and blues, delivering insights about the daily trials and challenges that bind us all together. HENRY'S RIFLE - Voted #3 solo artist in Metroland Readers Poll a couple years ago, Henry's Rifle is a one-man-band hammering out "Gothic Americana gone wild" (David Malachowski) on harmonica, guitar, runaway freight train banjo and heaps of foot-stompin'.
