Tonight's concert pairs two of Canada's leading singer-songwriters. Hailing from Winnepeg, Keelaghan is often called the Poet Laureate of the folk world and has been honored with a JUNO Award. He has been performing internationally for more than 25 years. He's a masterful storyteller, always searching for a forgotten moment in human history to preserve with beautiful poetry, palpable details, and a rich baritone singing voice. His early training as
an actor makes him a delightful entertainer and audiences cherish his song introductions as much as the songs themselves. Dave Gunning of Nova Scotia arrived in the Northeast folk scene just a few years ago. He has utterly charmed audiences whereever he goes with his bashful rural humor, stellar guitar playing, and songs of everyday people that you could swear are your relatives. With melodies that hint at the British Isles, Dave's songs will leave you with a smile on your face, a tear in your eye, and feeling like it's pretty cool to be a human being.
