Vashon Island singer/songwriter/guitarist Daryl Redeker and violinist/songwriter Sarah Perlman return to the Blue Heron stage after a brief hiatus to celebrate a decade of music and friendship. Promising a nostalgic collection of audience favorites along with new material, the dynamic duo is clearly back in the swing of making wonderful, eclectic music together.
Expect blues, including a medley of Perlmans song, Soul Serenade combined with Redekers tune, Jealousy. Another new tune, Flat Tire Rag, serves up music by Redeker and lyrics by Perlman; and Highway 45, a Texas swing style tune imparts Redekers impressions of the South.

Anything but silent since their last concert at Blue Heron in 2007, these two musicians have been busy. Redeker has traveled, played solo gigs at local eateries and Perlman has been playing with new Island dance band, Rumor has It and explored jazz with a Seattle guitarist. They both teach private music lessons from their studios and are in demand for weddings and other private events.
Both accomplished artists in their own right, Redeker has recorded and performed in the Northwest for more than 25 years. Perlman, who comes from a solid classical background continues to push her musical boundaries and even admits to singing on occasion. The duo began as a VAA New Works project in 1999, and has enjoyed what they each bring to the table ever since. Their 2007 release, RedPerl, Pearls before Swing, has been hailed as a blend of European gypsy rhythms, traditional American bluegrass with a shade of Cajunand a little sea shanty strung together with a swing undercurrent.
Our friendship is really what drives the music, says Redeker. The chemisty is what makes it."Perlman agrees that synchronicity takes place during the creative process and when they perform. Were at ease with each other and that shows in our music.
