Event

Santa Cruz Storytelling Festival
The Santa Cruz Storytelling is committed to weaving community together through the art of storytelling, live music, and people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.

Our Third Annual Event will take place on Saturday, September 27th, 2014 at the Branciforte Smalls Schools, Oak Tree Meadow 840 North Branciforte Ave Santa Cruz, CA 95062.

The day will begin with the Family Show at 2 pm-3 pm. This program is specifically designed for families with elementary aged children excited about listening to stories of the heart with music and lots of laughter. There is a playground nearby for any child who needs to play out their own adventure and unable to sit and listen.

Everyone can tell! Sign up to tell at our Community Story Swap, where you can tell your own story. Signups are the day of the Festival. Each Teller will be given 5 minutes, beginning right after the Family Show from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm.
Hosted by the imaginative Daniel Bittleston.

Experience storytelling under that stars with live music! The Evening Storytelling Performance will take place from 7-9 pm. This performance is created for a mature audience.
Please consider the family show if you have young children.
Adult content will be shared.

This year we have fresh new offering from the Santa Cruz Players including a few surprises! Our line-up of storytellers includes Sirena Andrea, Erica Lann-Clark,  Nancy Melon, Eric Schneider, Sage Lavine and Glenn Kazmierski, Fe Silva Robles, Stan Grindstaff Bill Trimpi, Carla Brown and Heather Houston's dynamic choir Yala Lati and Cymber Quinn's magical harp playing.

The Smalls Schools will be selling refreshments during both shows, and there will be one Intermission for the Evening show.

The outdoor Oak Tree Theater is a spacious grassy field, so you'll need to bring blankets or pillows if you'd like to sit on the ground close to the stage, or chairs for a higher view near the back. Warm layers a must for the possibility of a cool evening outdoors.

There is also a playground for those young ones who may need to live out their own adventures and unable to sit and listen quietly.

We invite you to picnic on the grassy field near the giant Oak trees or on the Small Schools campus. Bring beverages, bring cheese, bring dinner to share with friends.
