Ray of Light Theatre/Workshop Series: Auditioning for Musical Theater
. Learn specific techniques that will enable you to walk into any audition situation with strength and clarity and, within a few minutes, demonstrate the breadth and depth of your abilities. Learn to take control of YOUR audition. After all, the time in an audition room is YOUR TIME.
Who? This workshop is highly recommended for those who are regularly going out on auditions and want insight into what goes on in the audition room. This class is perfect for any level. No particular experience is necessary, only a willingness to learn and IMPROVE as an auditionor.
What? Learn the fundamentals of auditioning Learn the casting directors job and how you, the actor, fit into the big picture Discover not only practical preparations for showcasing the actor's abilities in an audition situation, but also the mental preparation. Have your headshot and resume evaluated Receive new song suggestions, specifically tailored to your needs
How? The class lasts approximately 4 hours. There are no more than 10 students per class, allowing at least 20 minutes of practical work and 2 1/2 hours of observation followed by an open question and answer time.

About Ellyn Marie Marsh: Ellyn Marie Marsh is a highly successful actor; with shows in Lincoln Center, National and European tours and some of the best regional theaters in the country. She has been a guest singer with the New York Philharmonic and Boston Pops. Ms. Marsh is also an accomplished director, and consequently has been privy to both sides of the audition table. She has worked on casting for TV, film and Broadway theater, including castings for Broadways Avenue Q and A Chorus Line. Being privy to casting has given Ellyn a wealth of knowledge, which she is ready and eager to share!
Tuition: $50 - Participant (Space is extremely limited and only the first ten people will be enrolled) Audit: $20- you may audit the class. This allows you to be an observer of those in their mock auditions. As an auditor you are privy to their notes and feedback. You will also be able to participate in the Q & A. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is not ready to dive into a workshop environment, but who can learn by observation.
