Architecture Matters Design Forum: Biomimicry
Join hosts Arturo Levenfeld, AIA, Saxon Sigerson, AIA and Kris Barkley, AIA for a casual evening of discussion centered on the topic of design as it relates to Biomimicry in architecture.
Biomimicry is the process of looking to a specific organism or behavioral model from the natural world for solutions to problems specific to design. Nature and the evolutionary process are the masters of efficient material use. Designers can leverage this understanding to 'do more with less' by mimicking nature's strategies.
Is Biomimicry a valid or perhaps even necessary approach to the design of modern buildings? What potential might be realized through the study of natural systems? Our open forum discussion is intended to explore these questions and others in our continuing Architecture Matters series.
