Members of NYC Ballet Orchestra will be joined by acclaimed Bandoneonist JP Jofre in a joint fundraiser to benefit the NYC Ballet residency at SPAC, and the Caffe Lena. This one-night-only performance will take place at Caffe Lena after the evening's ballet performance at SPAC. JP Jofre is an internationally recognized Argentinian Tango musician and composer. Based in NY City for the last five years, he is appearing with the NYCB this season, performing in Peter Martin's "Todo Buenos Aires." Tonight the musicians will play numbers from JP Jofre's own Hard Tango Chamber Band, as well as selections by Piazzolla and principal bassist Ron Wasserman.
The members of the NYC Ballet orchestra have long considered Saratoga Springs their home away from home. Over the years, besides playing for the many hundreds of NYCB performance at SPAC, they have, individually and in various combinations, been leaders in organizing benefit performances that support the residency and other causes in the area. They are proud to once again be demonstrating this longstanding commitment.
