World Flute Concert
His diverse musical background in Jazz, Afro-Cuban and particularly his Native American flute combined with his interest in history has inspired children and adults around the world and brought Stroutsos international recognition. Percussionist, David Revelli, who toured with music superstar Jewel, will join Stroutsos on frame drums, clay pot udu drums and tabla. Hear flutes of many cultures: American Indian, Chinese Bamboo Xiao, Dize, Contemporary Clay Aerophones, Silver Alto, and C concert flutes. "My passion is to share with listeners the cultural legacies which my teachers have shared with me," explains Stroutsos. "I can almost hear the land ...the music dancing on different shores and the cry of the people inside these flute melodies." Stroutsos believes in honoring traditions that span many generations with the innate knowledge that this enduring history is where the magic and mystery of flute music resides. According to Stroutsos, "Bringing music to life for new listeners is part of my vision because music touches the soul, making it our true universal means of communication." Stroutsos may be heard on the soundtrack of Ken Burns 1997 PBS documentary, Lewis and Clark: Journey of the Corps of Discovery which led to a command performance at for President Bill Clinton. He has also been showcased in Living Temples an intimate study of Man's relationship to nature.
