Alice Strange
'Blessed with the natural stage presence of Siouxsie Sioux, the vocal command of Björk and the dark phrasing of Concrete Blondes Johnette Napolitano, [Alice] is a rare and singular talent.' - LOUDERTHANWAR Formerly Alice's Night Circus, Alice Strange is classically trained and started her journey in classical music before venturing into her own style of music which encompasses influences from a wide range of musical genres and literature. She now performs her own original songs. Alice started singing professionally in her late teens whilst running her own business as a designer of fashion and jewellery. It was however following a meeting with Eliot Kennedy Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer - that she ventured into Steelwork Studios to find her own sound through the writing of her own songs. Alice released her first album called Metamorphose, it was a curious journey down a musical rabbit hole, featuring a blend of apocalyptic fairy-tale Steampop with a touch of the circus but discovered along the way that there were more sounds and styles she wanted to explore and to allow a broader thematic scope changed her name to Alice Strange. From day one I realised we were working with a real artist in [Alice]. Not only a designer of fashion and jewellery but also a real visionary regarding her music. It was a fab project to be a part of and I am really proud of what we have done together. I wish every success possible!!!' - Eliot Kennedy - Songwriter / Producer Alice has had M.E./Fibro since the age of 17 and the life experiences this has brought her have strongly influenced her music, which concentrates on the positive outcomes that can be achieved by overcoming a range of lifes difficulties. She is a very popular artist within the Steampunk community and is also developing her fan base into the greater population, having performed at Fantasy Forest, Zandari Festa Music Festival in Seoul, South Korea, Liverpool Sound City, Lincoln Engine Shed, Lincoln Castle and Whitby Pavilion.
Madam Misfit
Since 2019, Madam Misfit has dominated stages big and small with her unique blend of hip hop and swing, showcased in two successful albums and racking up over 1 million streams on Spotify. A ball of energy wrapped in a spectrum of colours, she orchestrates audiences into a world where mayhem and mischief reign supreme with her witty rhymes, proving herself a powerhouse and true maestro of mischief Madam Misfit is the maestro of mischief, where comedy meets chaos. This ball of energy gives a ladylike spin to Chaphop and Electroswing with vim, vigour, and vaudevillian vocals. As a rapper, singer, and rabble-rouser, her witty remixes and parodies, along with original works, unite audiences through humor and self-belief.
Captain of the Lost Waves
The Captain makes his return nearly 22 months after a life changing road traffic accident where both he and his family were caught up in a police car chase resulting in being hit by the stolen vehicle. During the challenges of such a stark rehabilitation, music was miraculously still being created, albeit in a very slow, laboured and somewhat sedate late night fashion. Where strong painkillers/opioids became married to those rare and fleeting moments of energetic impulses that screamed out to be expressed hence a reflective, healing, contemplative album emerged.
The first single/lead track Success In Failure was released on March 14th 2024. The 9 track album Beautiful Ugly is the 5th Captain album which will be released officially on bespoke American label Melodic Revolution Records on 12th Sept 2024. It was made with just 3 players, The Captain on Voice/Bouzouki/Guitar, Damian Clark on Keys/Synths and Wendy Ross on Violin.
Being a writer who follows such persistent whispers, prods and an almost other worldly invitation with a deep reverence to the process, The Captain felt compelled to realise this album into existence despite the circumstances that prevailed.
A crowdfunding campaign has been amazingly successful with all monies paying for production, recording, design, engineering, mastering, promotion costs etc.
The Captain is an ethereal troubadour, storyteller and free thinking renegade. His musical offerings are inspired by the great songwriters and philosophers of yesteryear. This is visceral music for the mind and body, full of dreamy verses, life affirming choruses and sheer audacity. Where melodic invention meets alternative folk, progressive, world and ambient sounds. Previously signed to Voiceprint under his natural guise Shaun T Hunter and Quiet Rebellion he released three critically acclaimed albums, two of which were Borders Book Stores album of the month. Off the back of this he carried out a residency at the famous 12 Bar Club, London. He was also voted Acoustic Roots performer of the year at the Leeds Independent Music Awards in 2005. He was also voted outstanding songwriter of the year from the Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards 2017. Making music is a communion to the Captain and much of his work has taken place in a music therapy guise. Playing in secure units, prisons, mental health units and hospitals. The connection is always about the most authentic exchanges between an artist and his audience, based on a shared humanity. The Captain was chosen by English Folk Expo as just one of 12 English artists to represent team England in the inaugural Global Music Match 2020, an exercise where 96 artists from 14 countries were featured world wide. The Captain was born to be an entertainer, perhaps even a prophetwatching his show is a life altering experience, there are no words in the English language to describe him The Huffington Post Sometimes something comes along that is so completely extraordinary that you just go yep, the Captain is a superstar, truly cinemascopic and epic Tom Robinson BBC6 Music
