This combo--the four-man, incredibly inventive folk rock ensemble Darlingside with riveting singer-songwriter Heather Maloney--is, without doubt, one of the most exciting acts to arrive on the folk scene for a while. Sharing a homebase of Northampton, MA, Darlingside and Heather did a short mid-west tour last fall. The music they made was so special that the New York Times ended up doing a feature on them, and the accompanying video (their version of Joni Mitchell's Woodstock) went viral and led to the release of an EP this spring on the Signature Sounds label.
Tonight we celebrate the release of that CD and the incredibly expansive, harmony-rich, groovy, fresh music these folks are bringing to the stage. It's Beatlesque, Joni-ish, ethnic, dreamy, compassionate, with arrangements so tight and creative they rival anything in the modern classical world. Come hear it, and get hooked!
