"Le Ciel et la Terre" presented by enCANTA Collective
After a long COVID hiatus, we are back in-person on January 21, at SOHO LOFT on Spring Street, NYC.
The program includes clarinet trio arrangement of Gustav Mahler's "Das himmlische Leben" from Das Knaben Wunderhorn, describing scenes and characters from a child's vision of heaven; Johannes Brahms' Clarinet Sonata, one of the great Romantic masterpieces with heavenly tunes; followed by Francis Poulenc's one-act monologue opera "La Voix Humaine." The work is based on the play by Jean Cocteau, consisting of a woman's last phone conversationg with her love, who has abandoned for a new lover.
