Gail Pettis Jazz Trio
Vashon Allied Arts Panache Jazz Series 09 continues with the deliciously soulful vocals of three-time nominated and 2007 winner of Earshot Golden Ear Awards Northwest Vocalist of the Year, Gail Pettis. Two of Seattle's quintessential jazz players will collaborate with Pettis-- pianist, Randy Halberstadt and upright bass player, Doug Miller. Pettis, whose rich, elegant voice has been compared to Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae, says the Vashon Island show will be a mix of jazz standards with a different twist and some R&B. Her debut CD, "May I Come In?" was released in August 2007, on the OA2 Record label. Showcased on XM Satellite Radio and Music Choice television, the CD was also nominated for Earshot Golden Ear 2007 Northwest Recording of the Year. Every cut, from the bluesy Black Coffee to the more obscure Help a Good Girl Go Bad (recorded only once before by singer Ruth Brown)draws listeners close, like a cozy cafe on a cold day...Champagne & Appetizers included with ticket.
